Bernice Bramhill Miller Marriner
By Bernice Marriner (Bramhill Miller)

Bernice Bertha Elizabeth Bramhill, third daughter (fourth child) of Clendon and Violet Bramhill, was born on October 29, 1923 in the family home on Concession 3 of Minto Township. I lived there with my family until moving to Palmerston in 1943 leaving my brother Ivan and wife Thelma on the home place.

At this time I was working in the office of my Dad’s Bramhill Brothers Chopping Mill on the main street of Palmerston. The picture to the right shows me at the front of the Mill during the winter of 1942. Left to Right: Leslie Shewan, Ivan Bramhill, Bernice Bramhill, Cliff Wilson and Laverne Bramhill.

On June 10, 1944 I married Norman Miller, of Gowanstown Ontario, at the United Church Manse in Palmerston, Ontario. Norman Harkness Miller, son of Fred Miller and Annie Ott, was born on March 20, 1918 on the 4th Concession of Wallace Township.

We moved back to the 2nd Concession of Minto Township to the farm at Lot 23, concession 3, (Cecil Phillipson farm) where we farmed for 25 years until Norman’s truck accident death on March 13, 1969.

Along with being a mother of three children
        Mildred Marie
        Mary Ann
        Kenneth Norman
and housewife, I worked at Campbell Soup, Listowel from 1960 to 1966.

Then joining the staff at the Midwestern Regional Children's Centre on Highway 23 between Listowel and Palmerston, I worked as a Medical Assistant until retiring in 1980.

In 1971 I married William Marriner of Fordwich and built a new home there. We also built and managed a new Mobile Home Park in Fordwich until my second husband’s death with cancer in 1988. My brother Percy Bramhill of Cambridge then took over the Park. I moved back to Palmerston and lived there in a home on Main Street until August 1, 1999 when I sold that house and moved to the newly built Palmerston Place Apartments at 56 William Street where I now reside.
