Martha Bramhill

Stanley Johnson is the Great-Great-Grandson of Martha Bramhill and Edward Johnson. Martha is the fifth child of Thomas Bramhill and Martha Waterhouse.

Martha was baptised on July 12, 1796 in St. Andrews Parish Church in Epworth, Lincolnshire. The name on the Baptismal records is spelled Brammell. She married Edward Johnson (born July 9, 1793) in Epworth on January 16, 1815.

They had seven children as follows:

Sadly, the photos of his Great-Grandfather, Edward Johnson have been lost or destroyed. He remembers seeing them as a child but cannot find any of them now.

Stanley has also researched his family line on the Johnson side and is now able to trace his family line back through the Ogle family and the Mowbrays to King Henry III who lived from 1206 - 1272. Because of the royal lineage he is then able to trace his genealogy back to Alfred the Great d.899 and to Cerdic who died in 534 and his parent Elesa.

1. MARTHA⁶ BRAMHILL (THOMAS⁵, THOMAS⁴, THOMAS³, JOHN², WILLIAM¹)¹ was born July 12, 1796 in Epworth, Lincolnshire¹, and died September 27, 1836¹. She married EDWARD JOHNSON¹ January 16, 1815 in Epworth, Lincolnshire, England¹.

2. EDWARD⁷ JOHNSON II (MARTHA⁶ BRAMHILL, THOMAS⁵, THOMAS⁴, THOMAS³, JOHN², WILLIAM¹) was born 1824. He married LOUISA STAINTON.

Child of EDWARD JOHNSON and LOUISA STAINTON is:

4. i. ALFRED STAINTON⁸ JOHNSON.

3. THOMAS BRAMHILL⁷ JOHNSON (MARTHA⁶ BRAMHILL, THOMAS⁵, THOMAS⁴, THOMAS³, JOHN², WILLIAM¹) was born 1827, and died 1896. He married MARIA BULLASS.

Children of THOMAS JOHNSON and MARIA BULLASS are:

i. GEORGE⁸ JOHNSON.

ii. THOMAS JOHN JOHNSON.

iii. ESTHER ANNE JOHNSON.

4. ALFRED STAINTON⁸ JOHNSON (EDWARD⁷, MARTHA⁶ BRAMHILL, THOMAS⁵, THOMAS⁴, THOMAS³, JOHN², WILLIAM¹). He married ELIZABETH BASSINDALE.

5. WILLIE STAINTON⁹ JOHNSON (ALFRED STAINTON⁸, EDWARD⁷, MARTHA⁶ BRAMHILL, THOMAS⁵, THOMAS⁴, THOMAS³, JOHN², WILLIAM¹). He married LOUISA TILL.

Child of WILLIE JOHNSON and LOUISA TILL is:

i. STANLEY¹⁰ JOHNSON.

Stanley has very graciously provided a great deal of information for us in our search for the history of the Bramhill family for which we are especially grateful. His research has provided most of the very early history we have.
