Hannah Keziah Bramhill was born on May 9, 1880 in Palmerston, Minto Township of Ontario, Canada. She was the fourth child of Matthew Bramhill & Elizabeth Bent — one of nine children, 4 girls and 5 boys in their family. They lived at Lot 21 Concession 3 of Minto Township.

Robert Henry Henderson, born April 13, 1876, lived in the stone house with his Mother Ann and Sister until December 11, 1907 when he married Keziah Bramhill. Robert and Keziah resided at Con # 9 Lot 13 & 14 of Wallace Township. Hannah Keziah died November 7, 1933 at her home on the 8th line of Wallace Township.
 
 

Robert and Keziah made many improvements on the home farm. About the end of the First World War they bought their first car, a Ford Touring car.

They had no family and in August 1930 adopted a little girl named Margaret Olds. Margaret Emily Olds was born September 24, 1921. Margaret’s parents where George Olds & Grace Lammomd.

For three years they were a happy family, but on October 31, 1933 Keziah was stricken with an illness that seemed to baffle the medical men. She lay unconscious for a week and on November 7, 1933 she passed on.

Robert and Margaret struggled along with the help of housekeepers until Margaret was through high school in 1937, and was able to take over the housekeeping.

In 1939, Robert completed wiring his building with hydro. The electric lighting of the farm buildings marked a long step from candlelight in a log cabin in the Queens Forest, which was the home of his mother and father.

In 1942 Robert suffered a heart attack which kept him in bed for eight weeks. During that summer his friends and neighbours harvested his crops and helped with the farm work. After his illness he was able to do his own work with the help of a hired man and did so until the fall of 1946 when Margaret married Carman Henderson on October 26, 1946. Carmen Scott Henderson was born August 9, 1914.

In November of that year they took over the farm. Robert lived the life of a country gentleman until February 3, 1952, when he passed away after a short illness.

Carman and Margaret had three children, Terry, Douglas and Susan. They are still farming and have made a few more improvements to the old homestead. Whether the two boys take over the farm is doubtful as their talents seems to be elsewhere.

Margaret & Carmen had 4 children:
                Terrence Bruce born February 7, 1948
                Judith Ann born September 8, 1950 and died late that year 1950.
                Douglas Robert born February 13, 1953
                Susan Margaret born March 12, 1957.

Terrence Bruce married Carol Ann Roloson (born August 6, 1949) May 6, 1972 and they live in Cambridge, Ontario.

Douglas Robert married Berendina Scheeringa (born August 3, 1954) September 29, 1978. Douglas was killed in a motorcycle accident on Highway # 86 at Wallenstein, on July 12, 1990.

They had 3 children:

                Jennifer Carmen born February 27, 1983
                Christopher William born June 28, 1985.

Susan Margaret married Bradley Ray Masters (born February 27,1957) August 30, 1980.

In 1973 Carmen & Margaret sold the farm and moved to Palmerston. The stone house was burned on December 16, 1976. On June 26, 1980 around 6:00 p.m. a tornado took down the barn which had served the farm for over 100 years.

Carmen passed away June 5, 1987 and Margaret passed away May 24, 1990.
 
 

A closing note from the Henderson history - This has been a short history of the people who carved our farm out of the wilderness of the Queens bush in 1852 and on reading of the happiness the train whistle gave Ann and the hard work William did to provide fuel for the steam engines, it is sad to think that now there are no trains of any account going in and out of Palmerston. What would Ann think now if she knew of the cars, trucks, tractors and other motorized vehicles travelling over the road she helped to start? The hard work our forefathers did in building the roads, churches, schools and homes
