1.  Ellen’s mother ELIZABETH7 BRAMHILL  (GEORGE6, MATTHEW5, JOHN4, THOMAS3, THOMAS2, JOHN1) was born February 14, 1852 in Epworth, Lincolnshire, England, and died June 26, 1916 in Colgate, Saskatchewan, Buried in Palmerston Cemetery.  She married JOHN GOODWIN1 1875, son of ELI GOODWIN and ELIZABETH PANTING.

2.  ELLEN8 GOODWIN (ELIZABETH7 BRAMHILL, GEORGE6, MATTHEW5, JOHN4, THOMAS3, THOMAS2, JOHN1) was born May 3, 1871 in Ontario, Canada, and died August 14, 1911 in Harriston, Ontario - Canada.  She married SIDNEY HARDING FRENCH June 21, 1899 in Harriston, Ontario - Canada, son of CHARLES FRENCH and ELIZABETH WARD. Sidney and Ellen were married at her father’s farm (Poplar Grove Farm) in Minto Township.

            Ellen Goodwin French died of a ruptured appendix when her son Beverly was only two years old.

            As a boy, Sidney would walk cattle from Clifford to Harriston for cattle buyers who had walked from Guelph.  These men would purchase cattle as they walked.  After Sidney reached Harriston, someone else would carry on with the men from there.

            Sidney always said that he wanted to marry “Ellie” earlier than he did but he had to take care of his mother.

3.  BEVERLY HARDING GOODWIN9 FRENCH (ELLEN8 GOODWIN, ELIZABETH7 BRAMHILL, GEORGE6, MATTHEW5, JOHN4, THOMAS3, THOMAS2, JOHN1) was born May 28, 1909 in Harriston, Ontario, and died April 2, 1980 in St. Clair Shores, Michigan.  He married ANNA MARGARET BEADLE September 14, 1940 in Detroit, Michigan, daughter of GEORGE BEADLE and MARIANNA YUNGBLUT.

 

More About BEVERLY HARDING GOODWIN FRENCH:

            He became a citizen of the United States after he immigrated to USA from Canada. He lived at 4001 Whitney and worked as a truck driver for G.E. Engineering on Elizabeth Street.

            In December 1938, he met Anna M. Beadle at 210 E. Grand Blvd while working as custodian for Miss Mabel E. Bennett at 210 E. Grand Blvd. He attended Cass Tech for classes in electrical engineering. He joined Local 58 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Beverly worked for Charlebois Electric wiring "Drive-In Theatres". After deciding to go into business for himself he founded French Electric Company with Offices at 5761 Eastlawn in 1948. He moved French Electric to 9328 Chalmers in 1952. He founded and operated Electro Temp Inc. and Yardley Lantern Mfg. Co. at 1975 Clay Ave in Detroit.

            He was a member and President of the Thomas Edison Club, an electrical construction industry trade association. Beverly held two patents for scaffolding and luminous ceiling equipment.

 

 

More About ANNA MARGARET BEADLE:

Anna Margaret attended High School in Clinton, Ontario. Starting February 1929, she attended Nurses Training in Stratford, Ontario. Then in February of 1935 she immigrated to United States from Canada and attended classes at Children's Hospital in Akron, Ohio until Feb 1936.

After living in the US for a few years she became a United States Citizen (1941). She is a Registered Nurse and worked in Detroit at Jennings Hospital.

            In 1967 she joined the Historic Memorial Society. She also became a member of the English Speaking Union. In 1976 Anna Margaret joined the Daughters of the British Empire and eventually became president of her local "Daughters of the British Empire" chapter.

            Took Post Graduate Courses/Obstetrics/Woman's Hospital (Hutzel)

            President of the Historic Memorial Society

4.  JAMES BENNETT10 FRENCH (BEVERLY HARDING GOODWIN9, ELLEN8 GOODWIN, ELIZABETH7 BRAMHILL, GEORGE6, MATTHEW5, JOHN4, THOMAS3, THOMAS2, JOHN1) was born June 25, 1947 in Detroit, Michigan.  He married CAROL LYNN WILLIS May 22, 1970 in Detroit, Michigan.

     

Note from James French:

My grandmother, Ellen Goodwin French, died of a ruptured appendix when my Dad (Beverly) was only two years old.  As a result of her early death, I never knew any part of the Goodwin or Bramhill family.  Until now, they were only fragments and faces from documents that my Mother gave me.
