Sarah Goodwin

            Sarah was the third daughter of John Goodwin and Elizabeth Bramhill. She was born 4 August 1881, at Palmerston, Ontario and Died 22 October 1951, Palmerston, Ontario. Sarah married John Shewan at Palmerston, Ontario on 2 January 1907, the son of John Shewan and Mary Ann Bent.  He was born 6 August 1875, and died 31 October 1944 at his home near Palmerston.

 

            They lived on a farm north of Palmerston where their eight children were born.

Their children were:

            1.John Ormund Shewan, born 26 February 1910, died 10 January 1991- He never married.

 

            2.Lorne Herbert Shewan, born 20 October 1911, died 13 March 2002.  Married on 10 August 1940 to Ethel Clark. She was born 7 April 1919.  Lorne and Ethel divorced.

They had three children:

             i. Mervyn Howard Lorne Shewan, born 13 June 1947, married Joyce Morrison. 27 June 1970.

            ii. Elmer Wayne Shewan, born 9 August 1950, married Marilyn Allair 11 July 1970.

            *Jason Shewan, born 1972

            iii. Linda Edith Shewan, born 6 October 1953, married Kenneth Staffer 1 July 1972.

 

Notes: Lorne’s wife Ethel left him for several years and lived with a man named Lee McCleonaled in Waterloo, Ont. Ethel came back to live with Lorne in 1974. Ethel left Lorne again in August 1977.

 

            3.Spencer Mervyn Shewan, born 18 January 1915, died 2 January 2004 at Mount Forest. He never married

 

            4.Pauline Arvilla Shewan, born 28 June 1916, died 26 May 1992 in Listowel.  She married Harold Lloyd McEachern on 27 June 1934 at Palmerston. He was born 1908, died.1977

            They had six children:

       i. Lloyd Raymond McEachern, born 22 September 1934, married Lenora Ferrier, on 30 December 1970

       ii. Donald David McEachern, born 23 July 1936, died 3 July 1994, married Elizabeth Hall 26 October 1963

            *David Carl McEachern, born 26 October 1964 at Walkerton, Ontario.

            *Kimberly Elizabeth McEachern, born 17 July 1965, at Walkerton, Ontario.

            *Gregory Harold McEachern, born 12 July 1969, at Walkerton, Ontario.

            *Teresa McEachern, born 26 June 1972, at Walkerton.

            *Jennifer McEachern, born 26 June 1972, at Walkerton, died 26 August 1994

       iii. Shirley McEachern, born1939, married William Denny

            *Lyle Denny, born 1957

            *Kenneth Denny, born 1958

       iv. Eleanor McEachern, born1945, married William Hall

            *Pamela Hall, born 1966

            *Jeffery Hall, born 1967

       v. Beverley McEachern, born1950, married Donald Morrison

            *Debra Morrison, born 1972

       vi. Murray McEachern, born1955

 

            5. Mary Phyllis Shewan, born and died 23 April 1918,

 

            6. Leslie Goodwin Shewan, born 8 February 1920.  He married Lauretta Alphreda Munford, on 17 June 1947 at Meyronne, Sask., daughter of Alfred Munford and Sarah Naomi Bramhill. She was born 25 March 1919 at her parents farm home south of McCord, Sask, she died 29 June 2004, at Swift Current, buried at McCord, Sask.  They farmed in the McCord area until their retirement to Swift Current.

             They had two boys:

      i. Brian Leslie Shewan, born 28 October 1952, married Lois Johnson 7 October 1977

            *Melissa Nicole Shewan, born 18 November 1981 at Calgary, Alta.

            *Jennifer Lynn Shewan, born 19 March 1985 at Calgary

            *Monica Stephanie Shewan, born 20 January 1987

       ii. Calvin Alfred Shewan, born 9 November 1954, married Donna Dobi, 10 June 2000, at   Penticton, BC 

 

            7. Marjorie Beatrice Alice Shewan, born 13 May 1922, married Raymond Dechert on 8 November 1947 He was born 26 February 1921, died 3 Mar 1996 at Calgary.

            They had three children:

       i. Charlotte Diane Dechert, born 23 May 1944,married Ralph Bender 2 February1963

            *Bradley Ralph Bender, born 1963, married Debra Adams 1999

         Charlotte and Ralph divorced

         She married Keith Gunow 29 December 1990

            *Raymond Keith Gunow, born 1973

       ii. Carol Elaine Dechert, born 19 August 1951, married Jim Seip 26 March 1968

            *Sherry Seip, born 1968

            *Steven Seip, born 1969

            *Randy Seip, born 1970

          Carol and Jim divorced.

       iii. Glenn Raymond Dechert, born 28 January 1953,married Bonita Martin, 6 April 1974

            *Jared Chris Glenn Dechert, born 1977

            *Melanie Erin Dechert, born 1981
