Chapter 3.3.7

George Bramhill Goodwin

By Irene Young

George Bramhill Goodwin was the second son of John Goodwin and Elizabeth Bramhill . He was born 5 September 1889 at Palmerston, Ontario. He died 30 September1926 at Jasper Alberta.

George came from Ontario to Colgate, Saskatchewan to where his brother Eli had already claimed a homestead.

George also filed on a homestead a few miles north west of Weyburn, Saskatchewan near the town of McTaggart.  His Land Grant numbers were - NW Quarter, Section 32, Township 9,  Range 15,  West of 2nd Meridian. It is not known if George claimed his homestead, or if he ever lived there.

In order to claim the land there were certain requirements in the contract that had to be met, so if George actually met those or not, is not known. We do know though at the time of his death in 1926, he was working for the Canadian Pacific Railroad . His death came as a result of an accident, where he was knocked off a ladder in front of a moving railway car.

We know he never married, but where he called home is not known, although we do find him buried at Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan in Rosedale cemetery.
