Elizabeth Bramhill was born on February 11, 1852 in Epworth, Lincolnshire, England. She emigrated to Canada in 1854 with her parents George and Ann Bramhill. Elizabeth married John Goodwin in 1875. John was born on April 27, 1850 in Pilkington Township, Elora, Ontario, Canada.

The parents of John Goodwin (who married Elizabeth Bramhill) were Eli Goodwin and Elizabeth Panting, lived on Lot 20, Concession 3 of Minto Township. The first Hope Church was on the corner of their farm. When the New Hope Church was built it was on the corner of 4th of Minto and Whites Road.
An Elizabeth Goodwin wrote several poems in a little book (4.5 inches by 6 inches) that was printed in 1881 by the Palmerston Telegraph Office. (Irene Young's note: I have pretty well come to the conclusion for various reasons, especially of the wording of some of the poems and the time frame that it was Eli's wife Elizabeth who wrote and published it. This was the booklet we reprinted for the bramhill Reunion in 2000.) Elizabeth Panting Goodwin, Eli's wife, was born in 1824 and died December 29, 1891. At the time she had the booklet printed, Eli and Elizabeth Goodwin lived on Lot 20, Concession 3 of Minto Township.

George was born in 1889. He never married. George died as the result of a train accident at Jasper, Alberta when he was knocked off the ladder in front of a moving railway car. He is buried at the Rose Dale Cemetery in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.
Raymond was born December 9, 1893 and married Karen Erickson. They adopted Wayne Leslie.
Beatrice was born in 1891 and married Lorne Gullivan
in 1917. They adopted Betty (Dorothy Elizabeth). In 1957 Beatrice married
William Craig.
John Goodwin was a farmer and local preacher in the Methodist Church. John
died on May 11, 1909 and was buried in Palmerston Cemetery. Elizabeth (Bramhill)
Goodwin died on June 26, 1916 at the home of her son Eli in Colgate, Saskatchewan,
Canada. She was also buried in the Palmerston Cemetery.

As a boy, Sidney would walk cattle from Clifford to Harriston
for cattle buyers who had walked from Guelph. These men would purchase
cattle as they walked. After Sidney reached Harriston, someone else would
carry on with the men from there.
Sidney always said that he wanted to marry "Ellie" earlier
than he did but he had to take care of his mother.

He became a citizen of the United States after he immigrated to USA
from Canada. He lived at 4001 Whitney and worked as a truck driver for
G.E. Engineering on Elizabeth Street.
In December 1938, he met Anna M. Beadle at 210 E. Grand Blvd while working as custodian for Miss Mabel E. Bennett at 210 E. Grand Blvd. He attended Cass Tech for classes in electrical engineering. He joined Local 58 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Beverly worked for Charlebois Electric wiring "Drive-In Theatres". After deciding to go into business for himself he founded French Electric Company with Offices at 5761 Eastlawn in 1948. He moved French Electric to 9328 Chalmers in 1952. He founded and operated Electro Temp Inc. and Yardley Lantern Mfg. Co. at 1975 Clay Ave in Detroit.
He was a member and President of the Thomas Edison Club, an electrical construction industry trade association. Beverly held two patents for scaffolding and luminous ceiling equipment.

MARGARET BEADLE:
Anna Margaret attended High School in Clinton, Ontario.
Starting February 1929, she attended Nurses Training in Stratford, Ontario.
Then in February of 1935 she immigrated to United States from Canada and
attended classes at Children's Hospital in Akron, Ohio until Feb 1936.
After living in the US for a few years she became a United States Citizen (1941). She is a Registered Nurse and worked in Detroit at Jennings Hospital.
In 1967 she joined the Historic Memorial Society. She also became a member of the English Speaking Union. In 1976 Anna Margaret joined the Daughters of the British Empire and eventually became president of her local "Daughters of the British Empire" chapter.

Note from James French:
My grandmother, Ellen Goodwin French, died of a ruptured
appendix when my Dad (Beverly) was only two years old. As a result of her
early death, I never knew any part of the Goodwin or Bramhill family. Until
now, they were only fragments and faces from documents that my Mother gave
me.
