Watson Bramhill was born on May 29, 1872 in Whiston, Rotherham, South Yorkshire. He was the tenth child of John and Eliza Bramhill. He married Rose Anna Dickson (Dixon). They lived in Keadby near Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire where he Watson had a shoe repairing shop. He was a boot and shoemaker by trade.
A great-grandson, Jullian Bramhill, tells us that Watson had a grandfather clock, acquired in lieu of a debt that he kept in his shop. On the top of the case stood an Eagle carved in wood with its wings outstretched. The day the First World War broke out he took a walking stick to it and swiped it off the top because in his words "It's like the ***** Hun Eagle". As Jullian wrote this, the clock was standing next to his desk and was still in working order (minus the bird).
Peter Bramhill, a grandson of Watson, informed us that Watson died following an operation in Scunthorpe hospital in 1935. Watson is buried near Jullian's grandfather, Harold, at Althorpe, Lincolnshire.
When he died his wife Rose married a Freddy Thompson and when he died
she lived with Nellie at Station Street, Misterton, Doncaster.

Harold Bramhill
By Julian Bramhill
Harold Bramhill was born 28 July 1896. Harold was one of four children - he had a brother Reginald, and two sisters May, and Nellie. Harold married Lillian Simcoe, who came from Kendal Westmoreland, on 27 Jan 1919.
They had one son, Eric Simcoe Bramhill, my father, born 29 July 1922. Lillian died of T.B in 1928. Harold remarried Nellie Pickersgill nee Lindley and had a daughter Audry.
Harold served in the army during the first world war and worked for the Southern Oil Company at Gunness Wharfe near Scunthorpe from 1921 till 1957 when Nellie woke him up one morning with a nice cup of tea and he dropped dead in bed! Such is life! He is now passing eternity in Althorpe parish church cemetery.
Eric Simcoe Bramhill, born 29 July 1922 at Scunthorpe, went to school at Keadby and Scunthorpe. They lived at "The White House" built by Harold's brother Reg. It is still there on the right as you head towards the tight right-hand bend approaching Keadby Bridge. When he left school he went to work at the steel works in the drawing office but was called up in 1939 for service in the R.A.F. He served in photoreconnaissance units in India, Burma, and came back to England for the D-day landings serving France and Germany.
After he was demobbed he married Doreen Horwell and started his own photographic business in Wetherby Yorkshire. Later working for the Akrill Press Harrogate and finally moving there in 1968. He retired due to ill health in 1976. He died after a strenuous bit of D.I.Y, as he sat in his armchair waiting for a nice cup of tea on the 8 June 1997. (Death and tea seem to run in the family.)
Julian Bramhill, that's me, was born 26 May 1950 in York, Yorkshire. We lived in Wetherby, which is between York and Leeds. I went to school there. I started work, in 1965, in the display department of a large department store in Leeds where I met my wife Susan. We married in 1970 and lived in Leeds for many years. We have one child, Emma, born 8 Jan 1974. We now live in Bardsey, which is near Wetherby. I intend to live to 100 and die in a sky diving accident due to my chute not opening but then I might hit someone who was having a nice cup of tea.

and now works at our local airport.
Editors Note: Another update John, while browsing
Peters web page I saw a reference to a Noreen Bramhill of Misterton, Lincolnshire.
I said Nellie lived there, this was due to an entry in one of Lillian's
autograph books which I have, the entry referring to a N Bramhill of Station
Rd Misterton, this must be Noreen not Nellie but they were known to one
another as there are several entries both at Misterton and Keadby.
